Coopelesca's story
Coopelesca has been using Smartflex since 2004 to manage their mission-critical business processes: billing cycles, commercial management, metering cycles, fraud management, portfolio management, customer service, and fraud prevention. By using Smartflex over the last ten years, Coopelesca has been able to position itself as a leader in the energy industry.
CIO Oliver Vásquez claimed, “Based on the stability in our commercial and operational processes, as well as Smartflex’s flexibility, in 2007, Coopelesca decided to venture in internet and cable television – where we reached 46.1% coverage [of the country].”
In January of 2014, Coopelesca began a software update with Smartflex EnergyCIS. “Knowing that we had a functional platform, we fell into our comfort zone and decided to incorporate new functionalities to be better prepared for the future,” said the CIO. He also highlighted that this software update was “a natural step, considering we had been working with a proven, reliable, and mature solution.”
With the Smartflex EnergyCIS update, not only did Coopelesca retain and improve their own business practices, they also implemented new successful business practices that allow them to expand their area of coverage.
Oliver Vásquez explained that one of the most important advantages the company obtains with this update is the geographic component incorporated into Smartflex Energy CIS: “energy servicing and crew dispatching went from being a static process to a dynamic one with this functionality.” This geographic component has increased Coopelesca’s efficiency by visualizing work crews on a map in real-time, allowing them to manage jobs in less time. “It will improve our company image for our end customers; they’ll have a positive attitude toward our operational efficiency,” said Vásquez.
Coopelesca also incorporated the Smartflex Mobile module to execute field work using mobile devices with multiple functionalities: meter reading, severance and reconnection, grid maintenance, route assignment, item and material management, and location of crews. These are all elements that help optimize activities on the field to provide faster service to customers.
